King Tuts Wah Wah Hut
March 27th, 2026
Most nights of the week, King Tuts of Glasgow comes alive and alight for an evening of top music. The headliners for my latest trip there was rising north-easterner Tom A Smith, who had the place in a complete flurry.
Support came from the loud and brash guitar rock of Hunny Buzz, who were indeed a buzz to ride on. Their female vocal, heavy guitar, bass and drums were really tightly wrapped, & whipped up a veritable frenzy of excitement for the main event.
Tom’s story is extremely interesting, and his fabulous stage persona showed it. He can proudly state to having done a gig at the tender age of 8, in a famous venue in Newcastle. Going on to collaborations with major bands, displaying his sultry and ruckus vocals, he has often chosen to hand pick his projects.

His latest offerings enbosomed a phenomenal concert that roared on at full steam; a performance to envy for a room full of happy people. The youth of this magnanimous group exuded from the stage. Nice, magic, rock n’ roll so present at the venue, they commanded the room. It dawned on me thinking, wait a minute these guys are really good. The whole trip became intensely enjoyable, and the room kind of grew around you, absorbing more and more of the hot energy created and fused between stage and crowd.
Tom is utilising a five-piece act. Bringing to life, and back to life, a sense of spectacle, youthful romance, and attractive rebellion – just what rock ‘n’ roll should be. I think fun was definitely on the agenda, they playfully captured the night, loudly, and made it look easy to do so.
