SWG3, Warehouse, Glasgow
19th Feb, 2026
We entered the building listening to some raucus music; the stage was filled with a young group called Gans Say Relax. They poured their delectable sounds into a crowd brought to life and satisfying movement. Their name translates as an intensive interest in punk, a sound that stretched far back over the decades. It was no wonder they were so proficiently good, capable of dissolving moulds and turning them to their intense, hurried act that flourished the room in haste, speed and musical boundaries.

The headliners for this SWG3 gig (Glasgow) were called Big Special. We were aware of the coming two-piece duo, but their presence blew the room clean with some gorgeous writing, and a sound erupting from their variously genre songs. The venue is a must see for locals and fans, its successes are commendable and remarkable, its capacity as always well attended.

The warehouse style brings us back to the 90’s when raving was all the rage. And with that enterprise we were entertained by live vocal and drum, along with a backing track. Already mixing the DJ vibe with rock n roll, punk and an enormous vocal spoken and sang, enticing the crowd as should be with a connection, proud and extremely relatable.

Things have happened relatively quickly for this two-man musical volcano. Starting back in 2020 (during you know what) a demo was sent to a drummer who liked it and spread the word further. When they signed to SO Recording in 2020, a magical story began to unfold and the band began to forge their sound, style and lyrical content.

Their profound single released in 2024, on their debut album, Postindustrial Hometown Blues (2024), was called Dust off/Start again. It offered a strenuous release of something worth having. In their journey their most recent single released off of their 2025 Album National Average is called simply Sluglife.

The amazing sound-engineering that happened in their music was worth an experience in itself. Performing on a great ride that brought all of us out of ourselves. We took in an awesome night.
“Amazing considering there is only 2 of them. Great energy on stage!”

Out of the multi-purposes of the SWG3 venue the gig was in the upstairs smaller room, a space that feels succinct in its layout. It has such great proportions, with a lower ceiling, and a shorter room. This made the music stand out with more intimacy, making effects with the lighting, the steam and the stirringly joyous audience activity.

What we were there to see was a gig on their ongoing UK tour, an extensive journey to the four corners. They come from what is termed the Black Country that resides in the West Midlands. The reflective concert had full on entertainment at its very best. Offering up a wave of a way that stood also in the progression and evolution of modern current music.

Also making sure that rock n roll, including punk has a new, fresh and powerful part to play with genres on tap that guarantee a spectacle in everything and in how music can assume its stage and space. Its fair hold on the vein vividly created by these two superstars done with nothing but pleasure.
