The Horrors

QMU, Glasgow
25th Nov, 2025

We went to a gut-busting gig last night at Glasgow’s University venue the wonderful QMU. You get there by following your nose to its most illustrious location, to a highly welcoming vibe created by students and music lovers alike.

Support came on called Man of Moon, who turned out to be the perfect accolade for the concert we were there to see, a great and legendary act called ‘The Horrors’. The Artistically driven Man of Moon had released a debut EP in 2019 calling it ‘Chemicals’ followed by in 2020’s ‘Chemicals; the Remix’. The vividly created music of this support band rose their slot to heart-warming levels.

Stage darkens, music is on everyone’s lips, red light assumes itself into the role of enhancing rock n’ roll. Stances are taken and the singer grabs you in by demand. His posturing, vibe tracing masterfully led portrayal met by lyrics and melodies that came from a place of fire that lit you up reaching primordial levels.

The largish space was in great resonance of this band. I thought I saw a great many styles of music that stretched all the way back to the harrowing blues in the early 20th century. The group are fit for legendary status among fans and critics, they formed in 2005 where they began from England to work on their rock music.

And celebrated their debut album in 2007 called ‘Strange House’ with a massive response to this energy packed style as they reach beyond their level and that of many others who play such style. I found in it a relaxation because of how much they had everything live in hand, exciting, yet easy, driving, rising on the stage into what it takes to make a formidable band using it this way like the stage had a big smile of its own.

As the large, illustrious sound billowed into the crowd it enthralled at atmosphere to rival a lot of rock music’s many faceted barrels. The red, blue light effects stirred the occasion into an enjoyment and celebration worthy of an unmissable attitude brought to live music.

The album ‘Strange House’ was a masterful recording after 2 years of playing live and figuring out the circuit. The sound was reminiscent of a mix of Motorheads and the Black Crowes. But now in their tireless developing the levels and bars are raised to the heights of originally organic music to way back. Crushing a performance with as much energy, style and spectacle, avoiding any thing to do with the glam rock of the 80’s.

It felt good, the rock felt good, the sound and style were admonishing, interesting and as was total rock n’ roll, hence the legend. The grabbing twists of heavier or more soulful work, the feeling of no matter what so famous for the genre.

An evening to call highly successful, flowing fans, happy days taken in far by music, presence, comradery and musical completion. Spent a great hour observing fans ignited
