Last night was the best gig I’ve been to in ages, so much fun, so little ego, so much dancing! I was pure giddy with excitement – Betty Boo! Oh my god, her tunes are just so funky, her sex-kitten goddessness accompanying my teenage years like Artemis on poppas, what a proper diva!
She’s touring her Boomania album at the moment, a seminal sonic masterpiece from an era of many masterpieces, & she’s definitely the best white rapper of all time, ever – proper quality. Being half-Scottish, as she explain’d to an adulating crowd, she really connected with us all last night in Edinburgh’s Voodoo Rooms, whose staff were ‘totally psych’d’ to being able to host her ‘homecoming’ of sorts.
Accompanied by a quality lassie making shapes & singing excellent backing, the duo rock’d thro Boomania in it’s totality, with even 1992’s banger, ‘Let Me Take You There’ making an appearance.
I’m trying to put maybe more words to the experience, but I simply can’t, I’m too gushy, & the letters are just turning to liquid. But yeah – what a treat, what a privilege, & what a fantastic gig! The world seems so much shinier today, god bless Betty Boo!
