Biscuit Barrel: Not Another 69-Sketch Show returns to Edinburgh Fringe with great enthusiasm. Following the traditional avenues of sketch comedy, these five biscuits grace the streets and venues of Edinburgh Fringe with an intoxicating energy. Hailing from the ever-artistic city of Bristol; James Horscroft, Lily Maryon, Capirella Hooper, Daryl Reader, Harry Brown and Holly Meechan have captured the very essence of fast-paced sketch comedy shows.

As expected, the room was full to the rafters with eagerly awaiting punters, and as the lights dimmed the mayhem began. To my taste-bud’s personal delight, a Jammy Dodger appeared, and was received with an abundance of laughter, setting the tone for the entire show. Who needs big fancy props and set designs when you can have your favourite biscuit cut out of cardboard and planted on your head. Loved it.

We were soon introduced to Private Cream (Custard Cream), Party Ring, Bourbon, and the outcast that is Rich Tea, whom is always happiest when accompanied by a cup of tea. Now the show begins ! No Rich Tea, No Party.

Like a Japanese Bullet Train, this roller coaster of gags, jokes, storytelling and slapstick fun runs thick and fast, some of which, without, warning hit you like a tone of bricks. In the best possible way the audience was catapulted into a frenzy of unbreakable laughter. 69 sketches in an hour, lets have it! Whoever imagined that stories of House Keys, Tube Journeys, Language, Food Scanning, Baked Beans and Quorn would ignite the audience in the way it did.

Not Another 69 Sketch Show is a wee masterpiece. Well scripted, and fantastically executed with true conviction. If escapism was a prescribed medication, then Biscuit Barrel and their 69 sketches would be the cure. Hilarious at every stage, this show delivers on every level. Fast-paced with non stop laughs, but sprinkled with empathy (for Rich Tea, mainly), this is a show like no other. Unless, of course, your a Hob Nob, then stay well clear.
